Poetry as Portal: Unlocking the Heart - A Night with James Crews & Friends (in-person, Burlington, VT)

“Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.” - Mary Oliver

In these times of heartbreak,
how do we keep our hearts open?

Please join us IN-PERSON for our fall Poetry as Portal event of listening, connecting, and wondering with Vermont poet, James Crews, and three local poets: Julie Cadwallader Staub, Patricia Fontaine and Alison Prine.

Honor the ways in which poetry opens and softens our hearts on the occasion of the release of James’s just-released book: Unlocking the Heart: Writing for Mindfulness, Courage, and Self-Compassion

We will gather at the Film House Theater at Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center in Burlington, Vermont to receive the wisdom and insights that poets offer so exquisitely. There will also be space for our own listening, as we use the poetry at hand as a portal into our own inner knowing and reflections.

Bring a friend or two for this night of hope, heartfulness, and compassion - a soothing balm in the midst of the chaotic times we are living in.
