Tools for Practicing Relational & Social Justice: Relating to Darkness Circle (virtual) 9/20-11/1

“all that you touch

you change

all that you change

changes you

the only lasting truth

is change

god is change”

-Octavia Butler-Parable of the Sower

Join us this fall as the days begin to shorten and we begin prepare to slow down and go inward . You are invited to enter into a seasonal and celestial journey to connect to the many ways of knowing. Unearth how you connect to darkness an essential tool to unweave oppressive language, systemic oppression as a way of decolonizing ourselves and society. We will wrap up our time together near the half waxing moon, holding the both/and of light and darkness. September 20-November 1, 2022.

This is an invitation to be curious, and lean in to deepen our knowledge to weave and unweave the layers and complexities of how we relate to darkness and blackness - from the universe- to the soil, and black and brown bodies.

Through poetry and music, each week we will gather to listen deeply and. engage in community sharing. Before each call, participants will receive a message about darkness and touchstones to consider for our time together. Through journaling and reflection seeds of wider knowing will be cultivated.

To deepen the practice of relational and social justice learning, we ask for a commitment to journey together and attend the seven calls and make space between calls for reflection and practice. This container is not based on perfection but on the progress of understanding ourselves and those around us.

Join Yvette McDonnell, Spiritual Chaplain Intern, for this 1 hour / week circle, September 20-Nov. 1. The size of the circle is limited. Please register as soon as possible to hold your place.

We invite you to step into this journey with your whole presence. At the closing of the 7 weeks, we will invite you to contribute financially what / if you can in support of experiences such as this. We begin with welcoming your engagement.
