Tools for Practicing Relational & Social Justice: Relating to Darkness

Unearthing how we connect to darkness is an essential tool to unweave oppressive language, systemic oppression and a way to decolonize ourselves and society. Join Yvette McDonnell, Spiritual Chaplain Intern, for a 3 -week, 1 hour each introductory exploratory circle:  Introduction- Deep Listening for Practicing Relational & Social Justice: Relating to Darkness.

This is an invitation to be curious about the layers and complexity of how you relate to darkness and blackness, in the myriad ways of their existence within the universe, to the soil, and black and brown bodies. Through reflection, poetry, and music, we will journey together.

Before each call, participants will receive a message about darkness and touchstones to consider. To deepen the practice of relational and social justice learning, we ask for a commitment to journey together and attend all three calls. This container is not based on perfection but on the progress of understanding ourselves and those around us so that we all may practice “living on our learning edges” and the many lived experiences that contribute to  wholeness.
