Listening is an art. It takes practice to listen deeply to ourselves and those around us, as well as the natural world. In these times when there is so much noise and chaos coming at us, time to pause and listen fortifies our hearts and our well-being. Come join us at the Richmond Free Library for a three hour session of creative expression, reflection, small group shariing to explore new ways of listening. Come once, come monthly. Bring a friend or someone you would like to listen with more fully.
Each Session will focus on a different mode of listening and expression, from poetry, paint, collage, yin yoga, movement and song. Each provide a way of tapping into what may be beyond your ear-sight. You will leave each session with a potential new practice to deepen your accesss your ways of knowing and nourishment in community. These monthly gatherings will be co-faciliatated with local artist, listeners, learners.
Carve time each month to deepen your own listening practices. No artistic experience is needed. Leave your inner critic behind and step in with wonder. Registering helps us prepare materials.

November 2, 2019: Free to Be with Mary Hill - Using a variety of fabric, rubber stamps and stencils we will explore words, colors and applied images that make us feel a sense of freedom and spaciousness.
December 14, 2019: SoulCollage© with Holly Wilkinson - Images provide gateways into knowing and expression. Come play with collage as a listening tool at the cusp of the new year.
January 11, 2020: Yin Yoga with Jen Peterson - Yin yoga is a slow, introspective practice that offers a chance to turn inward and nurture the calm, quiet center that is innate in all of us. We become better listeners and become wiser as we get to know ourselves from the inside out.
February 1, 2020 - Embodied Listening with Malia Matteson - Through guided sensory exploration, we will listen from the body to what arises within us. We will speak back in movement and in art, engaging a wordless dialogue that supports our vitality, insight, and wonder.
March 14 (1-4), 2020 - Making Your Mark with Carol Egan- Using lines, drawing and explroing simple ways hands meet paper, we will quiet our busy minds to find new ways of knowing and listening. We all have marks to make, come find YOUR way.
April 4, 2020 Listening to Lyrics that Lift with Aurora: Lifting our own voices in song with Ma Muse’s "Prayers for Freedom" as our inspiration, we will plant seeds for change, grow our hearts, and hear our soul's calling.
No artistic experience is needed. We will bring the materials, you bring yourself - and a friend - as a gift to yourself(ves) of the spaciousness needed to hear what is wanting your attention. Come explore new ways of listening and discover what is wanting to be unleashed in you.
